the films website is finally up!....save...a few things not working on it (just a teaser trailer and the photo gallery isnt up) but despite a few other bugs everything else works! Check it out.

You can read a synopsis, download the script, take a look at the crew, soon we'll have cast bios, email us @ feedback@collectingcanadamovie.com, watch a completely un-informing trailer, donate to the film, link to this blog, and check out other NYU films.

alarming authorities

In response to our recent art department license plate purchase:

Hi Justin
We normally don't sell plates to people who only order the current plate from their home state. This is to cooperate with law enforcement and protect against auto fraud. Can you tell me why you ordered 24 Idaho plates?

14 Day Count Down

Shooting begins June 14. Lot's to do before then, but with a crew of 16 plus, everything is going great!
Things we've learned thus far:

Roman Candles fired at minivan = extra insurance (who would have thought)
Police utility belts are expensive
On the New York Crew's way out, we will be staying overnight just over the Ohio State line. Originally we were looking at the Quality Inn in Youngstown. Then we read the following review:

We've elected to stay at a Holiday Inn in Hubbard instead.

The first official production purchase has been made. 2 domain names:

Both are temporary names, but at 8.74 a year, I figured I would in case the 2 other Justin Piasecki's in the world get internet savvy...

For sure. I'll do my best to write a DVD jacket version, and feel free
to clean it up syntax/diction/less !!!!! - wise.
I'll get it to you by 1.

-in the mean time, just send out the synopsis of Armaggeddon and
replace "asteroid" with "Canadian."

does this look alright?

"Due to a shuttle's unfortunate demise in outer space, NASA becomes
aware of a doomsday canadian that is on a collision course with Earth.
It seems that the only way to knock it off course is to drill into its
surface and detonate a nuclear weapon. But as NASA's under-funded yet
resourceful team train the world's best drillers for the job, the
social order of the world begins to break down as the information
reaches the public and hysteria results. As high-ranking officials play
politics with the effort, the drilling team all faces deep personal
issues which may jeopardize humanity's last chance..."

that worked out...just about as well as i thought it would.

Episode 1

After episodes 1, 2 & 3 of Northern Exposure, I’ve decided to move to Sicily, Alaska.
The incentives are many, including state funded medical scholarships, sincere thoughtful townsfolk, and a smoking hot land lord with 2nd season romance possibilities.

I digress.

I received a lot of feedback on my script, because people, for the most part, are great, and hopefully a 4th draft will come sometime over the weekend. Still don’t know whether to go with the inflatable gopher.

And today was production meeting # 1. Vickie had some good ideas about interest and fundraising, including keeping a “blog.” If anything, someone can follow along and read about my suffering through the film making process.

Intro: New York University: Advanced Production (with Prof. Katherine Lindberg). A class of 20 students will compete for the 10 available production allotments (allotments include Super 16 and Panasonic P2 card HVX-200 camera, G&E package, film stock, etc). Allotments will be distributed based on script quality and feasibility, production progress and presentation. The 10 students who are not selected are ejected from the class and will not return. Those that are selected continue on through May of 2007
to develop their production and shoot their film.

Current score: 2 people have dropped the class and one has self contained himself inside his room with both seasons 1 and 2 of Battlestar Galactica, a frighteningly familiar image.

Days until final presentations: 30

Today’s suffering: Justin’s Needs

-Close my SAG account from 6 months ago….so I can re-open one in 3 months…yeah
-Finalize a location (my entire room is plastered with highway, visitor’s center/sheriff station, & diner possibilities tacked to foam-core board) between Quad Cities Iowa, Mineral Point WI, Eagle River WI, Naples NY, Easton CT, Redding CT, and Eastport ID (so much that its beginning to compromise the fireplace mural that is my Star Wars: Battlefront II video game poster). Sacrifices.
-Land a second producer, because Chance had Sassy AND Shadow.
-My dad not to hit me when I say I need $1900
-a Director of Photography (earth), Asst. Cam (wind), Asst. Dir (fire), Prod. Designer (water), Art Dir. (heart), Harrison Ford (capt. Planet)

That’s just to get started. Budgets, insurance, copyright, hoe-tel rooms (ha…hoe-zone layer what what)…anyway, that’s episode one.

Stay Tuned – Website will be up soon with script, pictures, fake trailer, past films, crew list/bio’s, lame blog, and maybe even a lame video journal! (I’m a virgo, and Thursday nights are “Watch a Harrison Ford movie and drink 4 beers” nights).

I’m trying to do a stream of conscious process but I can’t type as quickly as I can think so it’s like running in a pack of bicyclists down hill, and the bicyclists have pages of a newspaper taped to their backs, I catch a few words and then lose focus. Maybe I should run more. I can talk faster than I can type, so maybe that’s a solution but it’s not because as soon as I start talking I become enthralled with the sound of my own voice.

And my nerves are a little shot. It’s the pressure of keeping up with the mind, my fingers shake a little too much and I end up mutating “got it” to “go tit.”

It makes sense to think of it all this way: Whatever you spend your time doing, you become better at. So I’m great at procrastinating, thinking, and masturbating. I’m probably one the best I know at two of those. Look, telephone poles: Y Y Y. I have this tendency to start my sentences s with “so”, but “so” implies a cause and effect relationship. Basically, everything after “so” is because of what comes before it. I worked out so I’m strong. I stubbed my toe so I cried. Why is he crying? Didn’t you hear? He stubbed his toe. Ohhhh, poor guy.
So beginning with so omits the reason. Surpasses it. Skips it. That’s probably what’s missing. What are my problems here?

I should be somewhere else right now

Dear iPod,

It's over. Nothing recognizes you, you don't charge, and you blow out all of my headphones. I repeat, it's over.

Dear Justin,

It was over awhile ago. You just never accepted it. I'm a stinker.
